With 37 years of martial arts experience, Hanshi Richard Buchan has been formally teaching as the founder of Kosho Ryu International martial arts organization headquartered in Canada. With the experience and training in many Kempo systems, expertise in Ki power and other arts forms, Hanshi has work hard for many years to develop a complete Kempo / Kenpo / Kosho Ryu System . Hanshi's rank is certified & recognized through the International Martial Arts & Culture Federation of Japan & signed by Shigeo Oomae, vice minister of Defence, Japan.

Kosho Ryu International has grown since its humble beginnings at a community center in the greater Toronto many years ago. Hanshi has worked to develop a one-of-a-kind Kosho Ryu - "Masters Program" at the International black belt dojo ( Ontario Canada) that has been dedicated to the next generation of educators in the discipline for over 6 years now. His teaching methods are a testament to his love of learning, whereby humility has easily become a fundamental principle that not only illuminates the tenure of his accomplishments but those of his students.Hanshi Buchan has been instrumental in the growth and teachings of Kosho Ryu in Canada and many countries around the world. With a history of service in the Canadian Military (infantry), Hanshi Buchan has had extensive training in the area of hand-to-hand combat and weapons combat techniques with Navy Seals ,Us Marines and Canadian Armed Forces Instructors.

This 9th dan Grandmaster has trained law enforcement personnel from various police services including major crime squads and tactical officers.He has taught many international seminars and clinics in Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Sweden, Dominican Republic, Italy and USA . He has studied and trained with international grand masters from Russia, Japan and India among others. Capturing the essence of knowledge that unites many art forms in the study of natural laws, Hanshi Buchan specializes in the teaching of Kosho Shorei Ryu, Internal Arts ,Ki Power, Ancient Principles of the Kosho Ryu Octagon & War Arts, Arnis, Grappling ,Human Body mechanics and the associated physics of its systems.
